Critics Bash Starbucks and McDonald’s for Staying Open in Russia
A sea of American companies shuttered their Russian shops after Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, but McDonald’s and Starbucks weren’t so eager to close. The two American chains – that often push woke policies at home – wanted to maintain business as usual in Russia. Pro-Ukrainian critics were outraged and called for boycotts of their American shops. Both companies caved after a few days of pressure and agreed to shutter their Russian shops.
