Disney fans outraged after ‘fairy godmother’ ditched for gender-neutral titles
You can add the term “fairy godmother” to the list of mundane terms Disney now finds offensive. The company is rebranding its “Fairy Godmothers in Training” program to be “Fairy Godmother’s apprentices” to ensure that people of either gender feel comfortable doing fairy parenting. “This way, cast members that might not identify as female can still be part of the process to dress up & style the children without having to refer to themselves as a female Disney character,” the company stated in an announcement.
