Nike, home of woke brand ambassadors like Colin Kaepernick and Megan Rapino, is being accused of “woke-washing” its marketing to appear to care about diversity and equality while hiding its true data. Meredith Benton, the founder of a woke ESG investment firm called Whistle Stop Capital, questioned why Nike won’t disclose its diversity numbers despite running campaigns about Black Lives Matter. “It really is very striking, this disconnect between their marketing and their lack of transparency,” Benton said.
