M&Ms Characters Get Feminist Overhaul
Candy-coated chocolates are tackling the patriarchy. Mars announced this week that its green M&M character will be trading her go-go boots for “cool, laid-back sneakers” to help the candy be “better represented to reflect confidence and empowerment, as a strong female, and known for much more than her boots.” Similarly, the Brown M&M’s heels have been lowered to a “professional heel height.” Mars believes makeover will help the candies thrive in a “more dynamic, progressive world.”
