NBA Owner Claims ‘Nobody Cares’ About Chinese Human Rights Abuses

Nobody cares that the Chinese Communist Party has detained, raped, and tortured the Uyghur people, according to Chamath Palihapitiya, the CEO of the venture capitalist firm Social Capital and former Facebook executive. Palihapitiya argued that America commits just as many human rights abuses as China and said he cares more about police brutality by American cops than the atrocities committed by the Chinese government. He also said that China is not a dictatorship. (Can someone get this guy a history book?) While many were shocked by his lack of empathy, they shouldn’t have been. Palihapitiya is a part-owner of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. The NBA has kowtowed to China’s censorship demands for years.
