Same-Sex Kiss Restored in Lightyear Film After Pixar Employees Complain ‘Overtly Gay Affection’ Is Censored

Spoiler alert: There’s a same-sex kiss in the upcoming Disney film Lightyear. The film – which tells the origin story of Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear – included the kiss in the original film, but it was then edited out over concerns that it would politicize a children’s movie. This all happened, however, before Disney spoke out against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” act, a bill that aimed to keep sex education out of K-3 classrooms. Employees said the company was hypocritical for opposing the bill while “censoring” scenes with “overtly gay affection.” CEO Bob Chapek addressed the controversy, telling employees, “The kiss was reinstated into the movie last week.”
