Professor Sandel, Robert Reich, And The Tyranny Of Hypocrisy

Some years ago, when I worked at our state labor department in California, the department reached out to Robert Reich, the former U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Clinton. The department was interested in strategies to improve wages in California’s lower wage jobs. Reich’s assistant explained that Mr. Reich would consider coming to California to talk about low wage workers for some sizeable payment ($5,000-$10,000 in the late 1990s) and a first class airline ticket.
